About GlycoMark

GlycoMark® is a medical diagnostic test that uses a small sample of blood to determine the blood levels of a molecule known as 1,5-anhydroglucitol, or 1,5-AG. I,5-AG, a molecule found abundantly in most foods, closely resembles glucose; in non-diabetic individuals, it remains in balance with glucose due to the regulation of glucose metabolism by insulin. In individuals with diabetes, however, 1,5-AG levels can decrease dramatically in blood as glucose rises above the renal threshold (the renal threshold – the point at which blood glucose increases to a level where it overwhelms the normal process of re-absorption and begins to be excreted in urine – is approximately 180 mg/dL).

A short article explains the test simply but completely.
